Super Eagles Allegedly Demanding Payment For World Cup Appearance

Super Eagles players, including Joseph Yobo and Mikel Obi, are reportedly demanding payment from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appearing in the world cup.

Nigeria will already automatically earn over $9 million for qualification and participation in the first round of the 2014 World Cup, Vanguard reports. The team will also receive additional money if they are able to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
In addition, each player will receive a bonus of $10,000 for a first round match win.

The players are demanding their own share of the country’s appearance fee that FIFA will award, because reluctance to disburse this fee in the past has reportedly caused disagreements between the team and NFF.
