Brazil 2014: President Jonathan Promises To Reward Super Eagles For Good Performance

President Goodluck Jonathan has promised to reward Nigeria national football team if they make a ‘major impact’ at the World Cup tournament in Brazil.

In the message forwarded to the Super Eagles by Senate President David Mark, Jonathan expressed his belief in Eagles, suggesting they can repeat success from 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where Nigeria won gold medal.

“When we won the Olympics gold medal at Atlanta 96, we defeated countries like Argentina and Brazil, so I believe we can have a repeat performance at this year’s World Cup, with the talents available to us in this team.”

In addition to the message, Senator Mark also presented players and technical staff Nigerian flags, which were gracefully accepted.

During the meeting, team captain, Joseph Yobo promised a good performance at the tournament, while coach Stephen Keshi hailed Jonathan’s message as it will raise team’s morale even higher ahead of Iran match on Monday.
